Baroda take first innings lead over Haryana
Riding on Saurabh Wakaskar's ton and Ambati Rayudu's half-century, Baroda managed to take the first innings lead over Haryana and then reduced the hosts to 127 for two at stumps on the third day of their Group B Ranji Trophy match here today.
Having bundled out Haryana for 295 in their first innings, Baroda were all out for 324 in their first essay.
Resuming at 197 for three, yesterday's centurion Wakaskar failed to add any more runs to Baroda's total and fell at his overnight score of 100. His ton came off 181 balls with the help of 12 hits to the fence.
Still trailing by 98 runs, Rayudu scored a quickfire 68-ball 54, studded with eight fours and two sixes to help the visitors inch closer to Haryana's first innings total.
But wickets kept falling at regular intervals and Baroda at one stage were struggling at 287 for eight, still eight runs behind the hosts.
It was Gagandeep Singh (26 not out), who held fort and along with tailenders made sure that Baroda go past Haryana's first innings score.
For Haryana, Amit Mishra was the pick of the bowlers with impressive figures of five for 97, while Mohit Sharma claimed four for 86.
In their second innings, Haryana lost both their openers early but Sunny Singh and Abhimanyu Khod made sure that there was no further damage.
At close on day three, Sunny was batting on 56 and Khod was on 38.
