Tino Best made 95, the highest score by a No 11 batsman in a Test match, as West Indies were bowled out for 426 on the fourth day of the third Test against England at Edgbaston here on Sunday.

Denesh Ramdin was 107 not out -- having been 63 when Best came in -- after the first two days of this match were washed out without a ball being bowled.

Best's score surpassed the previous No 11 Test record of 75 made by India's Zaheer Khan against Bangladesh in 2004.

In a stunning morning session that yielded 146 runs for the loss of just two wickets in 31.3 overs, wicketkeeper Ramdin and Best shared a West Indies record stand of 143 for the 10th wicket, surpassing the 106 put on by Carl Hooper and Courtney Walsh against Pakistan at St John's in 1993.

England, who having gone 2-0 up in this three-match series controversially chose to rest new-ball duo James Anderson and Stuart Broad from this game, saw their attack treated with something close to disdain by Best, playing his first Test in nearly three years.

The fast bowler, only on tour after being called up as a replacement for the injured Shannon Gabriel and whose previous Test best score was 27, faced just 112 balls with a six and 14 fours.

He was in sight of a stunning century when he skyed Graham Onions and was caught by England captain Andrew Strauss at first slip.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
