Bhatt’s spell puts brakes on Rajasthan
Jan. 12: A five-wicket haul by leg-spinner Bhargav Bhatt (5-103) helped Baroda restrict Rajasthan to 394 before reaching 73 for one at stumps on the second day of the Ranji Trophy final, on Wednesday.
For Rajasthan, although Robin Bist (77), skipper Hrishikesh Kanitkar (61), Rashmi Parida (56) and Ashok Menaria (45) contributed with the bat but none of the batsmen could convert the half-centuries into a big score here at the Moti Bagh Stadium.
Resuming at the overnight 198/3, Bist and Vivek Yadav (27), mixed caution with aggression to give the visitors a good start. The duo put 50 runs for the fourth wicket with Yadav being the more dominating before he fell to Bhatt.
Bist, on his part could not capitalise on a reprieve after being put down at 62 by A Karambelkar off Bhatt as he departed a little later to the same bowler. Bist’s 77 off 228 balls contained five fours and a six.
However, Parida and Maneria consolidated with a 77-run partnership for the sixth wicket.
