Bisht hundred wins it for Collage Group
India A player Robin Bisht led from the front hitting an unbeaten 106, while Rameez Niyamat scored 51 to help Collage Group beat Vidya Jain Academy by six wickets in the 38th Lala Raghubir Singh hot weather cricket tournament at the Modern School grounds, Barakhamba Road, in the capital on Tuesday.
Chasing 244 for win, Collage Group overhauled the target in 38.2 overs on the back of Bisht’s 97-ball knock, that contained nine fours and two hits over the rope.
The captain also found able support in Niyamat and Rohit Sharma (32 n.o.).
Earlier put in to bat, Vidya Jain Academy posted 243/9 in 40 overs, riding on an unbeaten century from Sultan Ansari. His innings was laced with nine fours and six sixes.
With wickets falling at regular intervals, VJA’s score at one stage read 53/6 in 14.1 overs. But Ansari and Gagan Sodhi (41) added 110 for the seventh wicket to set up a decent target.
For the winners, Narender Singh and Deepak Punia picked up two wickets apiece.
