Bowlers won series, says Gauti
Bengaluru, Dec. 6: Indian tracks have always been dubbed deathbeds for fast bowlers. Flat pitches and trying conditions have always made pacers’ life hard.
On Monday, ahead of the fourth ODI against the New Zealand, despite being the architect of two victories, skipper Gautam Gambhir credited the series win to the bowlers.
“I feel that the bowlers have done well in this series and all the credit should go to them. I think on flat tracks they have really bowled well, they have won the series for us,” he said.
Gambhir also hinted that despite winning the series he would not experiment and would put in place the best available team. “I haven’t seen the wicket yet. So later I will speak to the coach and we’ll decide on the to best team we can put on the park to win the game.”
He is also keen to maintain the momentum that they have gained after winning the first three matches.
“We are not thinking about a 5-0 win, but about the next game. I have always believed that the team who play better in 100 overs will win. So our target is to win the next two matches and continue with the momentum that we have gained in the first three matches,” said Gambhir. With the seniors selecting themselves for the World Cup, many of the juniors in the side are unlikely to make the cut. But, Gambhir felt that it was a chance for youngsters to gain exposure. “I think it is good opportunity for youngsters to show how they can deliver at the international level,” he said.
