Captain Teja’s ton takes President’s men to semis

Sept. 16: Hyderabad President’s XI, Uttar Pradesh, Goa and Orissa made it to the semifinals of the Moin-ud Dowla cricket tournament being played at various grounds in Hyderabad.
D.B. Ravi Teja’s scintillating unbeaten 111 helped script a six-wicket victory over Andhra in a match played at the ECIL ground.
Batting first, Andhra made 190 runs in 42 overs, losing seven wickets. Ravi packed off three batsmen conceding three wickets for 44 runs.
Ravi then shone with the bat making a mighty 111 in 113 balls. His brilliant knock was adorned with seven boundaries and five sixes.
The Hyderabad President’s XI thus booked a semifinal berth scoring 195 runs in 38.1 overs.
However, it was curtains for Hyderabad Colts as they lost to Goa by 63 runs.
Electing to bat, Goa had earlier made 260 runs. In reply Hyderabad Colts were restricted to 197 in 74.2 overs.
Meanwhile, despite HCA XI’s victory, the team failed to qualify for the semis. HCA XI, who earlier accumulated 364 runs, registered a 122-run win over Kerala.
