CBS in Rd of 16; Muni Int’l post last-ball win

Gurgaon’s Chiranjiv Bharati School entered the pre-quarter-finals of the 1st Fast Trax Daredevils Schools Cup Twenty20 cricket tournament when they beat Delhi Public School (Sushant Lok) by two wickets with five balls to spare in a crucial Group I league game at home on Monday.

An all-round effort by Harsh Kataria (3/33, 35) was the feature of Chiranjiv Bharti’s victory against an outfit that fought hard after being unable to post just 126/6 despite Vaibhav Sahdev’s solid 57 not out (58 balls, seven fours).
A knock of 68 (49 balls, seven fours) by Sukhneet Singh set up a 65-run win for Salwan Public School (Old Rajinder Nagar) over Bal Bharati Public School (Dwarka) in the opening Group O game. Salwan Boys Senior Secondary School (Rajinder Nagar) restricted Ravindra Public School to 89/6 for a thrilling nine-run win in Group N and in another tight game, Muni International School (Uttam Nagar) beat St Sophia’s Senior Secondary School (Paschim Vihar) by six wickets, reaching the 114-run target off the final delivery in Group C.
Scores: Group C: St Sophia’s Senior Secondary School (Paschim Vihar) 113/7 in 20 overs (Nitin Sachdeva 31, Mohit Kumar 32, Mohammed Rashid 3/19, Japjeet Randhawa 2/14) lost to Muni International School (Uttam Nagar) 114/4 in 20 overs (Rajiv Ranjan 34, Japjeet Randhawa 27, Aman Kumar 2/22). Group I: Delhi Public School (Sushant Lok) 126/6 in 20 overs (Vaibhav Sahdev 57 not out, Arun Kataria 4/19, Harsh Kataria 2/33) lost to Chiranjiv Bharti School (Gurgaon) 127/8 in 19.1 overs (Harsh Kataria 35, Vaibhav Sahdev 3/32). Group N: Salwan Boys Senior Secondary School (Rajinder Nagar) 98 in 19 overs (Ankush Tyagi 39 not out, Vineet Kumar 3/18, Anmol Trehan 3/17) lost to Ravindra Public School 89/6 in 20 overs. Group O: Salwan Public School (Old Rajinder Nagar) 142/6 in 20 overs (Sukhneet Singh 68, Dhruv Mathur 3/22) bt Bal Bharati Public School (Dwarka) 77/9 in 20 overs (Tushar Tanwar 2/20, Harsh Dudeja 2/14, Shaurya Vasudev 2/5).
