Chargers rope in big bulls
Jan. 8: The Deccan Chargers got off to an explosive start by bagging five belligerent batsmen, two fiery fast bowlers and an equal number of shrewd spinners even as different teams staggered through the lengthy list on the first day of IPL auction in Bengaluru on Saturday.
Having picked hard-hitters Kevin Pietersen (England), Cameron White (Australia), Kumar Sangakkara (Sri Lanka), Jean Paul Duminy (South Africa) and Shikhar Dhawan (India), all game-changers in their own right, the IPL-2 champions have built their batting engine.
In Dale Steyn (South Africa) and Ishant Sharma (India), the Chargers have two quicks who spearhead the bowling attacks of their respective nations. Add the last two seasons’ most valuable bowler, Pragyan Ojha, and leg-spinner Amit Mishra who has a hat-trick to the mix and Hyderabad has the best in all departments.
