Chauhan wins it for APS
Abhinav Public School, Pitampura, rode on a stellar show by Vikas Chauhan (2/15, 87 not out) to beat St. Xavier’s School, Raj Niwas Marg, by seven wickets in a Group B second round match of the Coca-Cola U-16 inter-school cricket tournament in the capital on Saturday.
Electing to field, the Pitampura School bowlers had the oppostion batsmen on the mat. St. Xavier’s were bundled out for a paltry 125 in 30 overs with Sahil Verma contributing an unconquered 43.
Chauhan’s probing line helped him bag 2/15. The all-rounder then returned to hit an unbeaten 87 to fashion his team’s win.
In a second round match in Group D, Apex Public School, Burari, beat Bal Bharati Public School, Dwarka, by nine wickets. The Bal Bharati boys were bundled out for 101 in 33.3 overs against some incisive bowling from Manish Tyagi (3/23). Apex Public School chased down the total in 11.4 overs.
