City rolls out better show
Hyderabad, Nov. 10: After suffering a humiliating defeat at the hands of Rajasthan in their first match of the Ranji Trophy Plate League, Hyderabad seemed to be making amends.
On Wednesday, they came up with a creditable show against Jharkhand in Ranchi. The visitors first bowled out the hosts for 200 and then managed to erase 50 runs out of their opposition’s total with openers Shashank Nag (21) and Akshath Reddy (16) remaining unbeaten at stumps.
For the hosts, S.P. Gautam (48) and Saurabh Tiwary (45) were the main contributors.
For Hyderabad, Alfred Absolem (3/42), Vishal Sharma (3/50) and Kaneeshk Naidu (2/50) were the pick of the lot, applying brakes on the opposition.
Meanwhile, Suraj Yadav’s lethal spell of 5 for 42 helped Services restrict Andhra to 229 on Day One of their Plate clash at Anantapur on Wednesday.
Batting first, Andhra were all out for a modest total despite handy contributions from Hemal Watekar (48), Satyakumar Varma (33) and B. Sumanth (30).
For the bowling side, Suraj ruled the roost. He was well-supported by Nishan Singh who took three wickets while giving away 57 runs.
In reply, Services were placed at 23 for the loss of one wicket at stumps.
For the bowling team, Syed Sahabuddin took 1 wicket for 16 runs.
