Clinical CSK clinch opener
Sept. 11: IPL-3 champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) scored a 57-run win over Central Districts in their Champions League T20 match in Durban on Saturday.
Chasing 152 for a win, Central Districts folded cheaply for 94. Doug Bracewell top-scored with 30 while L. Balaji was the pick of the lot for CSK, taking 3 for 20. Earlier, a superb exhibition of counter attacking batting from Subramaniam Badrinath and Srikkanth Anirudha helped CSK recover from a disastrous start and post a competitive 151 for four. CSK were reeling at five for two in the second over after opener Matthew Hayden (0) and Suresh Raina (4) were out early before Badrinath (52 n.o.) and Anirudha (42) took their side past 150 after electing to bat. The duo shared 73 runs from 49 balls for the fourth wicket with some well-struck fours and sixes on a spongy Kingsmead pitch which saw odd balls kicking up to trouble the batsmen.
In the other match of the day, Warriors beat Wayamba by seven wickets. Batting first, Wayamba made 153/9. In reply, Warriors made 156/3.
Scores: Chennai Super Kings 151/4 (Badrinath 52, Anirudha 42) bt Central Districts 94 (L. Balaji 3/20).
