Coaches will find a way to sort out Levi

Mumbai Indians are off to a good start but I am sure neither the people around the team nor their supporters expected victory to come with such ease.

It was presumed to be a keen contest between the two top sides but when one team wins a T-20 contest with about four overs and eight wickets to spare then it is bound to be labelled as one-sided.

Mumbai looked more organised of the two teams and I am sure Chennai has got the wake-up call very early in the tournament. The wicket at Chennai looked interesting.

It has been re-laid but looks to have settled down. It had bounce, carry, the ball was moving around when put in the right spot, on the whole it was a different wicket on Indian soil. It would be interesting to keep an eye on the nature of such an 'alien' wicket in the course of the tournament.

The match gave us the first feel of Richard Levi on Indian soil. The powerful young man from South Africa will surely be watched, scrutinized by one-and-all. He is a big onside player. I am sure coaches and captains will find ways to work him out.

One advantage for him is that he will be spending a lot of time with Sachin Tendulkar in the dressing-room as well as at the crease and will surely get a lot of guidance from the great man.

Levi looks good but it will be interesting to know how he adjusts and develops on Indian wickets as days go by.

It's time to be on the ground and we all are focused. Pune Warriors have been discussed for long but for different reasons. We have put the past far away from us and are on the ball. Yes, we weren't part of the bidding process but we don't want to make that a lifeline for us.

We do have a good bunch of boys and there are players in the group who are wanting to get on to the park to make a mark for themselves.

As for myself, it's good to be back in the IPL after a long season of domestic cricket and hope it will be a fruitful one in the middle.

Our first encounter is with the good Mumbai Indians on their turf. It is always an advantage to start off against a good side because your strength and weaknesses are evaluated properly. Mumbai is a side with good balance in the batting and bowling department.

Their bowling strength is a key factor. They have a bowling balance which can be suitable on various surfaces. It was good to see Abu Nechim with the new ball and the young man was impressive with his effort.

It was even better a sight to see a young player been given a chance ahead of R P Singh or Munaf Patel, which just goes on to show the confidence the team management has in him.

For us it’s a good opportunity to find out how good we are. At this stage of the tournament lot of teams will try to get their balance right and we are no different. We are a young side.

Three of our players are in the current Indian T-20 squad and lot of the others are either playing for the country or are knocking at the door.

For guys like Robin Utthappa, Callum Ferguson, Steven Smith it's a big stage to show selectors that they are indeed ready for the international scenario. In the first IPL it was the emergence of Shane Watson and it's a similar situation for all these players.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
