Cop suspended for 'suspicious movements' during IPL match
A police sub-inspector was suspended for his alleged 'suspicious movements' near the cricketers' dressing rooms 'that could be linked with match-fixing' at the Holkar Cricket Stadium during the IPL match played between Kochi Tuskers and Rajasthan Royals last night, police said.
PSI Sunil Yadav, posted in Shipra police station, was suspended for his suspected movements and behaviour in the restricted and prohibited area close to the players' dressing rooms, a senior police officer told PTI over telephone, adding that the Indore Crime Branch has been asked to probe the case.
"The movements of the police officer looked suspicious and might be linked with match-fixing. He was spotted away from the place of his posting and found close to the players' rooms," he said.
"IPL Intelligence wing informed the top police authorities about him, after which he was taken out of the stadium and was suspended", the police officer added.
Meanwhile three persons were arrested by the police for allegedly black marketing the match tickets. However, police say that no case of betting was found in the city.
