‘CT win cheered up Indian cricket’

Former captain Rahul Dravid has praised the selection committee headed by Sandeep Patil for including youngsters in the Indian team for the recent Champions Trophy.
“I think, hats off to the selectors in this particular Champions Trophy. They have been brave and they made some calls in which they could have been criticised. But it has worked out for them. When they do those things, you need to give them credit,” Dravid told reporters on the sidelines of a promotional event here.
Dravid, however, didn’t rule out the possibility of axed seniors like Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir and Yuvraj Singh making a comeback despite the youngsters playing a significant role in the last edition of one-day tournament in England and Wales.
“There is never an end for anybody. And all the players who missed out are class players. You can never say when they perform and when they come back,” he added.
Dravid said the Champions Trophy triumph cheered up Indian cricket in the aftermath of the IPL spot-fixing scandal.
“I think we needed a good positive story. We needed some cheer in our cricket. We needed some happiness in our cricket,” he said.
India got favourable results with the Decision Review System in the Champions Trophy and Dravid who had been at the receiving end of technology during his career, acknowledged it was improving.
