Defiant Srinivasan refuses to go
Despite the pressure for his resignation mounting, cricket control board president, N. Srinivasan remains defiant and seems in no mood to resign at least before the IPL final between the Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians. “I cannot be bulldozed or railroaded into resigning by the pressure being applied,” Srinivasan said here on Saturday. “Somebody wants to replace me, let him get elected,” he added while hinting at some members in the BCCI who want him out.
Srinivasan who is the head of Indian Cements, which owns the CSK franchise, claimed that he has no knowledge of his son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan’s involvement in betting and that there would be no discrimination in taking action against him.
“The BCCI will follow strictly all its rules. The law will take its course.”
Srinivasan made a short visit to Mumbai on Saturday before flying to Kolkata for a dinner hosted by Cricket Association of Bengal president Jagmohan Dalmiya.
He may be confronted by BCCI members there in bid to resolve the current crisis aroused due to spot-fixing and betting allegations in the Indian Premier League.
