Dhoni lone Indian to improve ranking after Edgbaston Test loss
The humiliating defeat at the Edgbaston Test has taken a toll on the rankings of most of the Indian batsmen as except skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni all others have slipped in the latest ICC ranking table.
India lost the third Test by an innings and 242 runs to trail 0-3 in the four-match series, yesterday.
Dhoni has moved up four places to be at 36th position after scores of 77 and 74 not out while Sachin Tendulkar is in fourth position, down by one place.
Rahul Dravid, the only Indian centurion so far in the ongoing Test series, is 14th after losing three places.
VVS Laxman in 12th (down by three places), Virender Sehwag in 17th (down by seven places) and Gautam Gambhir in 30th (down by three places).
Among the bowlers, Praveen Kumar (29) was the only to improve ranking an that too by just one position.
Zaheer Khan, who was ruled out of the tour due to hamstring and ankle problems, is now sitting seventh after losing two positions.
Gangling Ishant Sharma has dropped out of top-10 to be 11th, down by three positions, while Suresh Raina is at 30th after a loss of seven places.
It's completely different scenario for the England cricketers as opener Alastair Cook has vaulted into a career-best third position after scoring a career-best 294 at Edgbaston.
Cook, who has been nominated for the Cricketer of the Year and Test Player of the Year awards at LG ICC Awards 2011, has rocketed eight places.
