Dhoni looks to end win drought in Bengaluru
Bengaluru, Oct. 8: At a time when existence of the longest format of cricket is in danger, matches like the one in Mohali will go a long way in getting spectators back to the ground. Indian skipper M.S. Dhoni feels that it’s up to the teams to make the Tests more interesting.
“I think Test matches are here to stay, whatever said and done. All the captains and teams are trying to make them interesting. You get results out of most of the games these days. They finish in four-and-a-half days and that is a good part,” said Dhoni on the eve of the second Test against Australia.
Dhoni also said that with just a three-day break between the Tests, it was tough to get enough rest. “We tried to make use of the short break in the best possible manner. The first day goes as a travelling day and you rest and recover after that. It is very important to rest than practice. The body needs rest and it can help you more,” Dhoni pointed out.
Dhoni also hoped that India would to overcome the Test win drought in Bengaluru. Barring the on-field incident between Zaheer Khan and Ricky Ponting, the series has been incident-free and Dhoni was hopeful that it would stay the same in the coming matches too. “We always try to play cricket in the best possible manner. We are putting in a lot of effort and at times, respond to the opposition team’s remarks. We try not to get too personal. We will try to close this series without any controversies,” Dhoni said.
