DPS sail into quarter-finals

An explosive 89-run opening stand between left-handed Vrishbhabu Singh (45, 16b, 6x4s, 3x6) and Vishal Adlakha (41 not out, 12b, 4x4, 4x6) saw Delhi Public School, RK Puram, record a nine-wicket victory over Salwan Public School to enter the quarter-finals of the 1st Fast Trax Daredevils Schools Cup Twenty20 cricket tournament in the capital on Wednesday.

Salwan Public were unable to recover from a poor start with the top order crumbling for next to nothing. Anmol Chabra (21) was the only one to make a significant contribution to a team total boosted by 25 wides.
Chasing 90 for the win, DPS did not even break a sweat as Vrishbhanu and Vishal helped reach the target in just 4.3 overs. DPS will meet the winner of Thursday’s match between Amity International School (Noida) and Kulachi Hansraj Scholol Model School.
In other matches, shortened by overnight rain, Ganga International School and Salwan Boys Senior Secondary School (Rajinder Nagar) defeated Laxman Public School (Hauz Khas) by six wickets and Frank Anthony Public School (Lajpat Nagar) by 36 runs respectively.
In the quarters, Ganga International School meet the winner of the Bharat National Public School-Bhartiya Vidya Bhawan match while Salwan Boys take on Vidya Jain Public School (Rohini).
Scores: Sawlan Public School 91/8 in 20 overs (Anmol Chabra 21, Adit Pawha 2/7, Siddharth Mittal 2/17, Vishal Adlakha 2/22) lost to DPS, RK Puram, 93/1 in 4.3 overs (Vrishbhanu 45, Vishal Adlakha 41 not out); Laxman Public School 66/7 in 15 overs ( Sushil Khatri 2/1) lost to Ganga International School 67/4 in 12.2 overs (Jatin Dalal 29 not out, Rishabh Pratap 2/6); Salwan Boys (Rajinder Nagar) 86/4 in 10 overs (Sufiyan Alam 46, Shivam Chauhan 30) bt Frank Anthony Public School 50/6 in 10 overs (Aman Jhakkar 3/14).

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
