Dravid wants to make it count
Bengaluru, Oct. 8: Every time Rahul Dravid walks out to bat at his home ground, the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, there is a hope that he will bring up his first hundred in front of fans who have adored him for almost 15 years.
The former Indian skipper has never reached the three-figure mark here, neither in Tests nor in ODIs. In the seven Tests at his home ground, Dravid has scored a mere 282 runs at a disappointing average of 21.69, with 60 being his best. In the ODIs too, where Dravid is not in the scheme of things anymore, he made just 225 runs in eight matches, with a top-score of 80.
The second Test will in all probability be Dravid’s last chance to reach the milestone. Dravid, who turns 38 next January, is unlikely to continue for more than two years. He himself said that he wanted to score a big one here. “I have scored heavily here in the Ranji Trophy games and hope to imitate that in Tests,” he said.
