Gavaskar loses IPL job
The Board of Control for Cricket in India finally called a truce in its battle with former president Jagmohan Dalmiya by deciding to withdraw the 1996 World Cup-related fund embezzlement charge against him.
The board also lifted the four-year-old explusion imposed on Mr Dalmiya at its AGM in Mumbai on Wednesday.
The BCCI also brought about major changes in the Indian Premier League’s governing council, slashing the term of its members from five years to one. Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar was removed from the Indian Premier League panel, while interim IPL chairman Chirayu Amin was handed full-time responsibility.
Ravi Shastri continued to be part of the council but Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi was yet to confirm whether he would take up the job, which will now be in an honorary capacity for the former cricketers.
