Himmat puts Delhi ahead
Captain Himmat Singh’s maiden century (173) put Delhi in a commanding position against Haryana on the second day of their Vijay Merchant U-16 North Zone cricket tournament at the Virender Sehwag Stadium in Jhajjar, Haryana, on Sunday.
Singh and his overnight partner, Nitin Tanwar (96), put on a record 264 runs for the fourth wicket as Delhi declared their innings at 353/9 after resuming at 214/3.
While the Delhi skipper was the aggressive of the duo, hitting 12 boundaries and a six in his knock which lasted 297 balls. Tanwar faced 321 balls and struck 12 fours in his knock. Delhi tightened their grip in the match removing the top two Haryana batsmen cheaply as the hosts finished the day at 39/2.
