Hitesh stars in RPS win
Hitesh’s five-wicket haul helped Ravindra Public School, Pitam Pura, beat Government Boys Senior Secondary School, Possangipur, by six wickets in a Group C second round match of the Coca-Cola Cricket Cup Under-16 inter-school tournament at the Government School grounds in Vikaspuri on Monday.
Government Boys won the toss and opted to bat first. However, they failed to cash in on the opportunity and were bowled out for a meagre score of 66 in 25 overs.
Ravindra Public School’s Hitesh rattled the batting line-up and was well-supported by Ajay (3/7). Abhay Chauhan (25) was the top scorer.
In reply, RPS achieved the target for the loss of six wickets in just 17 overs. Nitin Jaswan led the charge with his 30-run knock and Luv Sharma remained unbeaten on 18. Anil Rawat finished with three wickets for the losing side.
Hitesh was adjudged the man of the match.
In a Group B second round match, Salwan Boys Senior Secondary School, Rajinder Nagar, routed Faith Academy of Prasad Nagar by nine wickets.
Faith Academy won the toss and opted to bat first. but were shot out for 31.
Salwan Boys Senior Secondary School’s Sahil Khatri led the way with a three-wicket haul, while Sanjay Kansal had 2/7.
In reply, Salwan Boys cruised to the target in just six overs, losing just one wicket. Kaif Ahmad (20 not out) and Rishabh Rawat (12 not out) remained unbeaten.
Scores: GBSSS 66 in 25 overs (Abhay Chauhan 25; Hitesh 5/11, Ajay 3/7) lost RPS 68/4 in 17 overs (Nitin Jaswan 30, Luv Sharma 18 not out; Anil Rawat 3/16).
SBSSS 31 in 20.1 overs (Tanish Kaushal 12; Sahil Khatri 3/5, Sanjay Kansal 2/7) lost to FA 35/1 in 6 overs (Kaif Ahmad 20 not out, Rishabh Rawat 12 not out)
