I will not be playing next year: Gilchrist
Veteran Australian wicketkeeper and Kings XI skipper Adam Gilchrist has said that he will not play in the IPL any more after the end of the current season. Kings play Mumbai Indians in Dharamsala on Saturday and if they fail to make it to the playoffs, it will be Gilchrist’s last game in the league.
“Last year I sat here and said I am finished, I probably won’t come back, I came back. I am not looking for any grandstand finish but in two days it will be the last time I play on this ground.”
Gilchrist annouced last year that he had played his last game in the IPL but came back to captain the side in the ongoing edition.
“I just love this place, this region, it’s been one of the greatest experiences of my cricketing life, to be able to come up here and play. I have been thrilled to be involved in this competition for six years.
“But I won’t be playing next year, and I am not making a huge retirement announcement though I intend to play in the Caribbean (in an upcoming T20 league) and be a part of that inaugural game there.”
