India win toss and bat against Chairman's XI
India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni won the toss and chose to bat on the rain-delayed opening day of a three-day tour match against a Cricket Australia Chairman's XI at Manuka Oval in Canberra on Monday.
The tourists left Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Ranganath Vinay Kumar and Ishant Sharma out of their team ahead of the opening Test against Australia in Melbourne starting on December 26.
Both sides will be using 13 players with only 11 allowed to bat and bowl in the tour warm-up game.
No play was possible before lunch after overnight and morning rain. The umpires said Monday's play would be extended by an hour.
