An Indian win will be refreshing

After the loss in the Test series the Indian team and its fans will be hoping for a turnaround in the shorter format of the game. Both the teams are full of young legs and so the mobility and enthusiasm on the ground should be much higher. This is a format which India has clearly dominated more than their Australian counterpart.

India has been a world champion once in the T-20 format whereas the Australians have reached the final but are yet to lay their hands on the trophy. The match will not be held at the traditional SCG rather at a completely new venue, the Olympic stadium.

It will be interesting to find out how the new venue lives up to the cricketing atmosphere between two great cricketing nations.

In the two match T-20 series it's going to be more the mindset than the technicalities of the players involved which is going to matter most.

One needs to be fearless and innovative in this kind of format and India will be bolstered by the inclusion of many a youngster, who should be rearing to go and get noted for the future, as Indian cricket is understandably on the verge of undergoing a sea change. So the young players need to make the most of whatever opportunities that come their way.

It is quite sure that there will be lot more spark in this Indian team than the one which featured in the test series in terms of energy, exuberance as it is full of young players.

People in this team will surely be throwing themselves around more and it should be a refreshing sight but whether that exuberance will be good enough to win a cricket match only time will tell. Youngsters like Rohit Sharma, Suresh Raina, Virat Kohli, Manoj Tewari along with seniors like Sehwag, Gambhir, Dhoni should make India a formidable force.

India should look to utilize Irfan Pathan as an all-rounder as he can be a good package with the bat as well as his bowling in the shortest form of the game.

The Australians also have a new look team compared to the test squad. With Miachel Clarke deciding to stay away from this format of the game the Australians have a new captain in this format in George Bailey, who is considered a sound cricketing brain in this part of the world.

Whether Bailey and his boys can continue the Aussie onslaught in the coloured clothes game will be interesting to watch.

The Australian selectors have gone by the form of the players in the recent Big Bash and that's the reason for forty-plus Brad Hogg getting a call-up in the T-20 national squad. He will be closely watched, as to how he matches up with a quicker format of the game supposedly dominated by young legs. So with youngsters in the fray on both the sides the game should be fast-paced and hard fought.

The Indians failed to arrest their downslide in England after having lost the test series and were handed a drubbing in the one-dayers also. Their game surely improved but that didn't thwart the losses against the Poms.

I wish that the young Indians will be able to turn things around this time in Australia and watching India win on Australian soil will be a refreshing sight.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
