Manoj Tiwary is the most travelled Indian cricketer in recent times to get the least number of opportunities.
The Bengal batsman was dropped after getting an ODI hundred and now on the fringes of Test cricket as well, he sent a dogged remainder to the selectors that he is in the fray for the No. 6 slot along with Yuvraj Singh and Suresh Raina for the forthcoming four-match Test series against England.
Tiwary top scored with 93 and was involved in a 110-run partnership with Irfan Pathan (46) to revive India A after they were reeling at 190/6 against England. “I was looking for an opportunity to bat longer. I haven’t batted for a long time in recent times. It was disappointing to miss out on a hundred but I am happy with the way I played today,” said Tiwary after the match.
Being part of the Indian team and not playing in the XI does bother the middle order batsman, but he has his ways to inspire himself. “I am an emotional person and these things do affect me.
But I keep watching videos to inspire myself.
I try to keep myself motivated and work hard in nets. I am working on my bowling as well and want to contribute in all areas,” he said.
