Jagdale shocked by Kundra’s involvement
Rajasthan Royals co-owner Raj Kundra’s admission of betting in IPL matches has left many shocked and former Board of Control for Cricket in India secretary Sanjay Jagdale has termed the development as “another instance of damaging the faith” of the fans.
“It (betting) is morally wrong since you own a team. Such things are not good for cricket and not good for the IPL. It”s another instance of damaging the faith, Indian cricket lovers have in the sport. Really shocking,” Jagdale told a news channel on the development.
Jagdale, who has recently quit his position in the board in the wake of the spot-fixing scandal, refused to be drawn into the debate of calling for suspension of the franchise.
“I can”t comment on the legalities. It”s is up to the governing council and executive committee (to decide on the fate of RR),” he said.
But the veteran administrator did point out that the board needed to get its act together in the matter at the earliest. “These are the lessons the BCCI will have to learn. The sooner they do it the better it will be. They need to sit together and give top priority to cleaning the system and all that has happened recently.
“Top priority should be given to it and not to any individual who is holding any post. There are people who are capable of taking decisions in the BCCI. And such decisions will be taken soon,” he said.
