J&K’s wait continues
It has been an agonising wait for Jammu and Kashmir’s cricket fans for one of their cricketers to actually play at the international level. Many have come into the reckoning without actually breaking into the Indian team before Parvez Rasool made history last month when he was picked for Zimbabwe tour.
“Parvez would have showcased his talent and showed to the world that Valley cricketers aren’t lagging behind. But it is very disappointing that he didn’t get a game,” said Parvez’s Ranji teammate Abid Nabi.
Though his family members were disappointed not to see him play, they are optimistic about his future. “We are expecting him to play especially after winning the series but it didn’t happen. However we expect that he will get more chances in future and when he will get it, we will pray inshallah he will deliver,” said his brother Asif, who is also state level cricketer.
“He is a tough guy. When he was dubbed as a suspected terrorist in Bengaluru and detained, he played next day and scored a half-century. He is mentally strong and will fight it out,” one of his friends said.
