Jr Chargers ride on Shaibaz show
Hyderabad, Dec. 27: Deccan Chargers Juniors rode on Shaibaz Tumbi’s brilliant 108 to thump the visiting Sri Lankan under-19 team (Mortuva Vidyalaya) by 36 runs in a 25-overs-a-side cricket match played at the Indus World School in Hyderabad on Monday.
Batting first, Deccan Chargers Juniors powered their way to 213 for 2 in the stipulated 25 overs. For the hosts, Shaibaz led the charge with a blistering innings that contained 12 hits to the fence and five shots sailing over the ropes. Other to contribute to the Chargers’ total included Kranthi (54) and Ravi Teja (26 n.o.)
In reply, the Sri Lankan team could only manage 177 for 9 in their quota of 25 overs. For the visitors, Glamkal with 56 and Janido (45) were the chief contributors. For the winning team, Ravi Teja was the pick of the lot, taking three wickets while conceding 23 runs.
Ravi was well-supported by teammate Kranthi who scalped two wickets while giving away 33 runs.
