Kerala cricket body bats for Sreesanth

The Kerala Cricket Association have turned a fresh page in the controversy around tainted cricketer S. Sreesanth when they met officials of BCCI in Chennai on Wednesday to the explore alternatives. “Sreesanth is our boy and we have concern for him,” said president T.C. Mathew, who headed the four-member KCA delegation to meet the key office bearers of BCCI.
Mathew, however confirmed that KCA was not against their parent body’s decision nor challenging the decision taken by its disciplinary committee to impose a life ban on the fast bowler over alleged spot-fixing.
“As an affiliate of the BCCI we are completely bound by any decision they take, but we also have a certain obligation to our players, which is why we want to explore the possibilities of what best can be done for Sreesanth,” said Mathew.
He did not reveal their suggestions which would be placed before BCCI president N. Srinivasan. “The BCCI has never revoked any of the bans it has imposed so it is unusual there will be an exception in Sreesanth’s case,” she said.
Sources said Sreesanth had never approached them to take up his issue with the cricket board and the move was entirely an initiative of the state association.
