KN Kolts win in close encounter

KN Kolts edged past Telefunken Club by eight runs in a Pool D match of the 1st Sahibzada Zoravar Singh and Sahibzada Fateh Singh day night Twenty20 cricket tournament at the SGTB Khalsa College grounds in the capital.

Batting first, KN Kolts posted 162/7 in 20 overs. Harsh top-scored with 45 not out (13 balls), that included two fours and five sixes. Punish Mehta chipped in with 33.
Jerry Stephens (2/31) was the pick of the bowlers for Telefunken, while Yogesh Rana, Yogesh Nagar, Sidharth Lohia and Saurabh Sharma took one wicket each.
In reply, Telefunken failed to achieve the target despite Samarth Singh’s first century of the tournament. The team could only reach 154/3 in 20 overs. Samarth, who slammed 102 in 62 balls, was named the man of the match.
In a Pool B match, Goswami Ganesh Dutt Club defeated Oche Sports Private Limited by nine runs.
Put in to bat, GGD Club raised 131/9 in 20 overs on the back of Naresh Jain’s (29) and Nitesh’s (25) knocks. Ankit Chaudhary and Kapil contributed 24 each. Vikram Dahiya and Rohan Rathi of Oche took two wickets each. Chasing, Oche Sports were restricted to 122/9.
