Kochi stadium preparing for IPL
Kochi: Getting set to host some Indian Premier League matches this season, the Kerala Cricket Association has commenced work for modernising and providing better drainage at the Jawaharlal Nehru stadium, which will be the venue for some matches of the Kochi team, Association secretary T.C. Mathew said.
Effort is to provide a good drainage system, refurbish the stadium and replace the flood lights which would totally cost Rs 5-7 crore, Mathew told PTI.
The work is expected to be completed by February 28.
The first India-Australia ODI on Oct 17 last year had to be abandoned due to the water logging of the ground at the stadium.
