Manhas, Mehra guide Delhi to win as Haryana tame J&K

New Delhi, Oct. 22: Delhi skipper Mithun Manhas and Puneet Mehra shared an unbeaten 80-run stand for the fourth wicket to lead the side to an easy seven-wicket win over Punjab and notch up their third successive win in the North Zone T20 matches at the Palam grounds here on Friday.

Chasing a modest target of 138, the home side scored at a brisk pace but lost their three top-order batsmen by the eighth over with the total on 58. Manhas (39 n.o., 37b) and Mehra (39 n.o., 33b) took the side home with eight balls to spare.

Opener Puneet Bisht had given a rollicking start to Delhi’s run-chase with a 10-ball 22, studded with four fours and a six before being dismissed in the third over.

Earlier, opting to bat, Punjab posted 137/6 with main contribution from opener Sarul Kanwar (31) and Karan Goel (30 n.o.). With their third win on the trot, Delhi now share top position with Haryana on 12 points.
