McCullum’s son eyes dad’s shoesc
Hyderabad, Nov. 16: As Brendon McCullum marched towards his maiden double century, his son Riley and wife Elissa were at hand.
Six-year-old Riley cheered his father from a corporate box, lapping each shot and giving a thumbs up when Brendon survived a close call during the course of his innings. When the right-hander reached the double-century mark, he dutifully acknowledged the team and his family. “That’s for me,” screamed the toddler, before waving back at his father. “He batted well, didn’t he,” Riley said.
Not surprisingly, McCullum Junior has taken to cricket seriously and bats left-handed. “Dad bowls to me and I always enjoy batting,” the boy said. He was seen sporting a Black Caps jersey with his father’s name and No.42 engraved on it. The kid was silent for a brief period when his father was dismissed, but applauded as the double-centurion made his way back to the pavilion.
