Mike Hussey signs for Sydney Thunder
Sydney, New South Wales: Recently-retired Test star Mike Hussey on Monday signed for the Sydney Thunder in the Australian Twenty20 Big Bash League, where he will partner Michael Clarke.
The popular left-handed batsman, who quit international cricket in January, said he was aiming to bring his experience to a young Thunder squad.
"I'm extremely excited about joining the Sydney Thunder and having the opportunity to be part of a young, energetic side that will represent the west of Sydney with pride," Hussey, 38, said in a statement.
"The team and the area have enormous potential and I hope that I can bring my experience to help get the best out of the side and develop the talented playing group that we have."
The Thunder finished last in the opening two Big Bash seasons and went winless last year.
Clarke, who is leading Australia in the Ashes series in England, said he was excited to have Hussey, who is leaving the Perth Scorchers, on board.
"Mike is an outstanding cricketer and a great team man and the experience and abilities as a player that Mike will bring, will be of enormous benefit to the squad of players that we have," he said.
"I look forward to working closely with Mike when I have the opportunity to be part of the Thunder this season."
The Big Bash gets underway in December.
