Missed hundred after all the hard work, says Edwards
Back in 2011, Kirk Edwards made a dream debut, scoring a hundred against India at home. Having missed out on a berth in the squad for a year-and-half, the 28-year-old sent out a message to the West Indies’ selectors with his well-crafted 91.
But the disappointment on missing out on a century was palpable. “It would’ve been nice for me and Kraigg to get a century because we did all the hard work, but it wasn’t to be, so you have to just accept it and move on. I think we lost two or three wickets too much but having said that, it keeps the game interesting,” said the man from Barbados, at the end of first day’s play.
“The pitch was a bit spongy in the beginning so it required a bit more patience, so we had to get ourselves in and see that phase out. Once we got into it was a lot easier. The fact that India won the toss and decided to bowl showed me that it was going to be difficult for the batters in the front.”
Tricky wicket, says Rasool
Parvez Rasool, who bowled lengthy spells to finish as the pick among the India A bowlers said he enjoyed his day out on the field. “I was bowling well. When I got the wicket, I was enjoying my bowling. It’s a good situation for us. We defended well on a tricky wicket,” said Rasool who also said the team would look to restrict the visitors to within 300 on the second morning.
