Modi insists he’s not hiding in UK
London, Nov. 3: Former Indian Premier League commissioner Lalit Modi, who is facing legal action in India, made it clear here on Wednesday that he is not in hiding.
“If I was in hiding, I would not be here, would I?” he asked at the International Sports Event Management conference at Twickenham in south London, before his engagement at the two-day meeting.
Mr Modi, however, refused to answer any questions on his future plans and whether he would be returning to India, especially as the Enforcement Directorate had initiated proceedings to cancel his passport. “I am not going to comment on anything,” a smiling Mr Modi said.
Dressed in a navy blue suit and a purple tie, Mr Modi spent a huge amount of time outside the venue smoking and walking around during the earlier sessions of the conference.
Mr Modi, who was accompanied by two bodyguards throughout, said he would follow the due process of law and would not comment on any issue at all.
