Government School, Pausangipur, held their nerves to beat DPS RK Puram by one run to clinch the Hargopal Under-16 cricket tournament title in the capital on Monday. The match was reduced to 15 over per side, and both the teams fought out valiantly.

Batting first, Government School Pausangipur posted 94/9 in 15 overs with handy knocks from Anurag Kanojia (36) and Himanshu Suri (25).
But it was Aryan Sehrawat’s (3/10) and Akash Jain’s (3/13) impressive bowling that gave their team a real chance of winning the title.
However, Government School Pausangipur’s bowlers led by Saurabh Kanojia (2/23) ensured the match went down to the wire with tight spells.
In the end, the Pausangipur boys restricted their opponents to 93/7 to scrape past them by the thinnest of the margin possible.
Former cricketer Yash Pal Sharma and Delhi Districts and Cricket Association general-secretary S.K. Bansal gave away the prizes.
In the match for the third place, Modern School, Barakhamba Road beat Quetta DAV School, Nizamuddin by 95 runs.
Batting first, Modern School set up a stiff target of 179 in 15 overs for their opponents riding on Abhishek Goswami’s 43. In reply, the DAV boys were shot out for 83 in 13.1 overs.
Vikas Chaudhary (40) played a lone hand in the chase. Biren Singh (4/7) and Zoravar Singh (3/21) ripped through their opposition’s batting line up to ensure a comprehensive win for Modern School.
