Plea wants Srini probed; CSK, RR Axed

Mumbai: The troubles of N. Srinivasan are not over yet. A PIL has been filed in the Bombay High Court by the Cricket Association of Bihar seeking the termination of Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals from the IPL. The petition has also demanded a proper probe against Mr Srinivasan himself. The troubles of Mr N. Srinivasan, who has “stepped aside” for the moment from his post as BCCI president, are not over yet. A PIL has been filed in the Bombay high court by the Cricket Association of Bihar seeking the termination of Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals from the IPL. The petition has also demanded a proper investigation against Mr Srinivasan himself.
Mr Srinivasan has repeatedly said he is innocent of any wrongdoing. The PIL was filed on Thursday before a bench headed by Justice Mohit Shah.
However, Justice Shah recused himself from hearing the PIL which will now come up before another bench in due course.
The petitioner has alleged that the probe committee appointed by the BCCI to investigate the allegations of spot-fixing in the IPL was an exercise to cover up the activities of Mr Gurunath Meiyappan, the son-in-law of Mr Srinivasan.
Mr Meiyappan, too, has said he is innocent.
The petitioner has pointed out that the BCCI president is himself vice-chairman and MD of India Cements Ltd, which owns the Chennai IPL team, and that the committee was appointed only when pressure started mounting on him regarding the allegations regarding Mr Meiyappan's alleged involvement in the IPL betting scandal.
One of the prayers in the PIL is that the court should direct the BCCI to recall its order constituting the probe panel and instead set up a panel of retired judges, as it may deem fit, to investigate Mr Meiyappan.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
