Prakash lights up India’s day
India got off to a flying start in the T20 World Cup for blind here on Sunday. In their opening encounter the hosts’ defeated Australia by eight wickets.
Batting first, India struck a mammoth 341 runs for two wickets against Australia.
In reply the team from Down Under managed 126 runs for 8 wickets following a spat of run outs.
For the Indians, local lad Prakash Jayaramaiah (B2) was the highest scorer with a stroke-filled 76-ball 173 which included 33 hits to the fence and two over it.
He was ably supported by Ajay Kumar Reddy (B3) (520 and Ketan Patel (B1), 50.
The Indians were very effective in the field with five run-outs and one stumping which sealed the win for them.India next play England on Tuesday.
