Pujara hopes to make most of British tour
India A skipper Cheteshwar Pujara feels that the triangular series against England and the West Indies in UK will provide great exposure to his young side.
“It’s a great opportunity for the youngsters to travel and play matches in the UK. Whoever performs can get a chance to make it to the senior team. Playing away is always a challenge, as we are not used to such conditions. It will be an experience,” said Pujara at the pre-departure press conference here on Tuesday.
All the players from the squad are part of one or another Indian Premier League team and Pujara is hoping that experience will count on the tour.
“We all have played IPL and we came to know each other better during the 44-day tournament which is a positive sign and we will be able to handle our responsibilities collectively” added Pujara.
This is the first time Pujara is leading the senior side, but is hopeful that his experience of leading the junior team will come in handy.
“I’m leading the side for the first time. I have some experience of leading in the juniors. It’s a great opportunity for me and my aim is to win the series,” said the Saurashtra player.
The tour begins on June 5 with a three-day game against Yorkshire.
