Punjab, Kerela in last four
Chennai, Aug. 24: Draw of lots today helped Punjab and Kerala to progress to the semifinals, while Mumbai and Karnataka will cross swords in the other last-four tie in the All India Buchi Babu Memorial Cricket Tournament here.
At the end of the league phase, all three round robin matches among four teams each in Group C and D failed to yield any result either due to rain.
Draw of lots was applied, in which Punjab (Group-C) and Kerala (Group-D) were lucky to advance to the semifinals. In Group-B, both Rajasthan and Karnataka were tied with six points each but the latter made the grade on account of better run rate.
Mumbai remained the lone team to have aggregated nine points from three matches to qualify without any hitch for the semifinals.
The highlight of the day was Saurashtra’s Jaydev Shah’s 97 and Andhra’s, Shankar Rao claiming five for 100 against Mumbai.
