Rahul, Kunal shine on rain-hit day

Young opening batsman K.L. Rahul (94 n.o.) and stylish middle-order batsman Kunal Kapoor (58 n.o.) did the repair job to take the hosts Karnataka to 190/2 on the rain-hit opening day of their Col C.K. Nayudu Trophy Elite Group ‘A’ tie against Gujarat at the JIRS ground here on Friday.
After choosing to bat, Karnataka lost opener K.B. Pawan cheaply and skipper Ganesh Satish (21) in the 18th over. However, the right-handed duo of Rahul and Kunaal stitched together an unbroken third-wicket stand of 136 before rain playsport to force an early stumps.
Brief scores: Karnataka: 190/2 in 51.5 overs (Rahul K.L 94 batting, Kunal Kapoor 58 batting) vs Gujarat.
