Rai powers Bal Bhawan School into final
Air Force Bal Bharti School, Lodhi road, surrendered meekly by 123 runs to some inspired bowling performance by Bal Bhawan School, Dwarka, in the semi-finals of the K. Gupta inter-school cricket tournament in the capital on Sunday.
For the winners, it was a one-man show by Gupil Rai, who first anchored the innings with an unbeaten 74 to help his team post a competitive total on the board.
Rai was well supported by Mayank Rawat (36) as Bal Bhawan scored 182/4 from their 20 overs.
Ayush Lajpal (3/33) was the pick of the bowlers for the Air Force School.
The Bal Bharti boys stuttered in the chase right from the start with some incisive spells by Rohit Tyagi (4/12) and Rai (3/14) and were never able to come back in the game.
Unable to rise up to the occasion, the Air Force team finished their quota of overs at an embarrassing 59/8.
Scores: Bal Bhawan, Dwarka 182/4 in 20 overs (Gupil Rai 74 not out, Mayank Rawat 36; Ayush Lajpal 3/33) bt Air Force Bal Bharti School 59/8 in 20 overs (Siddhant Purohit 23; Rohit Tyagi 4/12, Gupil Rai 3/14)
