Rain halts Aussie march
England were 59/3 off 15.1 overs against Australia when rain stopped play at 3:34 pm local time (2.34 pm GMT) in the day/night third one-day international at Edgbaston on Wednesday.
Jonathan Trott was 28 not out and stand-in captain Eoin Morgan five not out.
Australia lead the five-match series 1-0 after their crushing 88-run win in the second ODI in Manchester on Sunday followed Friday’s washout in Leeds.
Earlier, Australia captain Michael Clarke won the toss and elected to field against England in the day/night third one-day international at Birmingham’s Edgbas-ton ground on Wednesday.
England were unchanged from the side that lost the second ODI at Old Trafford on Sunday.
But, with Wednesday’s match delayed by rain, Australia brought in seamer Josh Hazlewood for leg-spinner Fawad Ahmed.
It was only the second ODI of the 22-year-old Hazlewood’s career and first in more than three years following his debut, against England at Southampton in July 2010.
However, the New South Wales paceman did take 2/43 in Australia’s 39-run Twenty20 win over England at Southampton last month.
Rain delayed the scheduled 1:30pm local time (12.30 pm GMT) toss by 35 minutes but the start of the match was set to be put back by just 20 minutes to 2.20pm (1.20 pm GMT), with no overs lost.
