Rain threatens to spoil Murali's farewell
Galle (Sri Lanka), Jul 17: The much-anticipated Test farewell of spin wizard Muttiah Muralitharan is threatened by rain as the weatherman has predicted overcast conditions on all five days of the first Test between India and Sri Lanka starting here tomorrow.
Muralitharan, who is eight wickets shy of touching the unprecedented 800-wicket mark, will retire after the opening Test of a three-match series between the sub-continental neighbours.
Galle was lashed by heavy rain today, forcing the ground staff to cover the entire field and the forecast is gloomy for the next few days as well.
India has not won a Test series in Sri Lanka for the past 17 years with the 1993 Mohammad Azharuddin-led side being the last to record a triumph in the island nation.
