Rajasthan clinch vital lead, close in on historic win
Jan. 14: Rajasthan are well on course for their maiden Ranji Trophy title after taking a vital first innings lead of 33 runs over Baroda and reaching 201 for four in their second essay at the end of Day Four here on Friday.
At stumps on the penultimate day’s play of the five-day match, Rajasthan had taken an overall lead of 234 runs. Ashok Maneria scored unbeaten 83 and with Rashmi Parida (78 not) stitched an undefeated 140-run innings after the visitors were struggling at 61/4. Resuming at 361/8, Baroda carried on the fightback and tried in vain to surpass their first innings total with a 68-run ninth wicket stand.
