Rajasthan plan another upset
Jan. 2: Whatever happens from here on, Rajasthan have nothing to lose. Emerging from the Plate Division of the Ranji Trophy, the hosts have exceeded all expectations by making the last four. Paying back defending champions Mumbai in their own coin in the quarter-finals, the Central Zone outfit proved what they are capable of.
On the other hand, Tamil Nadu are on the cusp again. The route looks relatively easy but they have to be on top of their game to put it across a side who have played solid cricket.
The Sawai Man Singh Stadium, is an elegant venue offering one of the better strips in the domestic circuit. Bowling first will not be a bad idea as the wicket settles down well for batting from the second day. All the advantage for the fielding side has to be drawn on the first day.
Rajasthan had their game plan all chalked out against Mumbai. It could be stating the obvious, but the first session here could well decide the course of the game.
Acclimatising to the conditions will not be difficult for the visitors as they have played in similar weather against Haryana in Rohtak recently. Having arrived well in advance, Tamil Nadu are not short on preparation. Rajasthan could field the same team that won the last game while Tamil Nadu will keep their options open and take a call on Monday morning.
