Rasool can make xi on his own, says bedi
A day after calling in for off-spinner Parvez Rasool’s inclusion in the XI for the final one-dayer of the Zimbabwe tour, Jammu & Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah expressed disappointment after the former was left out again in the game at Bulawayo on Saturday.
But former state coach Bishan Singh Bedi asked the politician and others asking for Rasool’s India debut to leave the 24-year-old alone as he could make the XI on his own.
“Req politicos pl leave PRasool alone- he can do without ‘charity’ concern. PR got in on merit, he’ll play on merit! No1 upset PR’s peace o mind,” the legendary left-arm spinner posted on his twitter account.
Rasool is the only one in the 15-member India squad on the Zimbawbe tour who failed to get a game even though the visitors had sealed five match series in the third game itself and won the fourth match also to take a 4-0 lead.
“Did you really have to take him all the way to Zimbabwe to demoralise him?? Wouldn’t it have been cheaper to just do it at home,” questioned Abdullah on twitter after failing to find Rasool’s name for Saturday’s game.
Minister of state for human resource development Shashi Tharoor also joined in the debate terming the exclusion as bizzare.
“Greatly disappointed that Parvez Rasool not playing today. Bizarre selection. Could easily have rested Jadeja & Raina for Rasool & Rahane,” Tharoor said on twitter.
