RGICS sports a new look
Come Saturday, the Deccan Chargers will be treated to a homecoming of sorts at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Uppal here.
With the Chargers playing at their home for the first time after the inaugural season, the stadium is ready to sport a new look. Frenzied last-minute touches are being applied to the stadium, which is getting a facelift ahead of the Chargers’ IPL-4 opener against the Rajasthan Royals on Saturday.
The plastic seating in the south pavilion, adjacent the players’ dressing rooms, has been replaced with brand new, plush seating, while awnings have been erected all across the stadium to shelter the spectators from the sun.
The spectators will find this a welcome addition, as the match against the Royals is a day game. The lobbies are getting a facelift of sorts too. The lobby walls now resemble a fence made of bamboo poles.
This is reportedly to lend an air of contemporary-cum-rustic elegance to the stadium.
